Fine Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Coggled Drape Decoration, attributed to Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY, circa 1800, ovoid jar with footed base, featuring a coggled drape motif extending around the shoulder, highlighted in brushed cobalt slip. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Large network of sealed cracks to one side, including a narrow 1" flake along crack line and a 4" oval section, which is possibly very tight reglued. One small rim chip. Minor chipping to base.
