Shenandoah Valley Glazed Redware Egg Cup, attributed to S. Bell & Sons or J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, ovoid form atop a stepped pedestal base, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip with splashed copper, all under a clear lead glaze. Featuring strong copper decoration, a large size, and exceptional condition, this egg cup is possibly the finest Shenandoah Valley redware example of the form that we have ever offered. Provenance: A recently-surfaced example, consigned from Illinois. Excellent condition with a few minor base chips. H 3 1/2".
