Two Pieces of Bell Family Redware, Waynesboro, PA origin, second half 19th century, circa 1880-1895, a three-gallon ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and combed incising to shoulder, decorated around the shoulder with four manganese-glazed spotted tulips, stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'"; paired with a three-gallon ovoid jar with applied lug handles, flared rim molding, and wavy line incising to shoulder, decorated with two manganese-glazed spotted tulips on the front and reverse and manganese-glazed highlights to the handle terminals, stamped "JOHN W. BELL / Waynesboro, Pa.". John Bell jar with some surface wear and some wear to interior base. John W. Bell jar with significant, wide cracks, heavy rim wear, exfoliation to areas of surface including glaze, and a small handle chip. H (of John Bell jar) 11 3/8".
