Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, heavy extruded handles, and thick squared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with two large spotted tulip emanating from leafy stems. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Shoulder impressed with John Bell maker's mark above an incised "4". Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a minor glazed-over base chip.
