Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Drape Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK", early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with a scalloped, spotted drape motif flanking the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark of Clarkson Crolius, Sr. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A smooth in-the-firing spout chip. A 1" glazed-over chip to foot. A faint horizontal line at base near base on reverse. Some in-the-firing flaws to surface.
