Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Stenciled "WILLIAMS & REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. PA", circa 1885, ovoid pitcher with tall flaring collar, the body featuring Williams & Reppert maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled vine motif. Collar decorated with three columns of freehand dashes. Freehand stripes to rim, base of collar, area above stenciling, and base of pitcher. Brushed cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. Desirable form. Provenance: Collection of Lorren Lambert, Staunton, VA. Large area of restoration to far right side of pitcher's front, extending onto reverse, with no touch-up to cobalt.
