Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Stenciled "WILLIAMS & REPPERT. / GREENSBORO. PA.", circa 1885, ovoid pitcher with tall, flaring collar, the body featuring Williams & Reppert maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled foliate motif. Collar decorated with three columns of freehand dashes. Freehand stripes to rim, base of collar, above stenciling, and at base of pitcher. Desirable form. Provenance: Collection of Lorren Lambert, Staunton, VA. A V-shaped hairline on underside, with half of V continuing 3 1/2" up front and touching edge of "W" in "WILLIAMS" and other half of V extending 2 1/4" up side of pitcher. A small iron ping to front. Majority of pitcher is covered in varnish, although no restoration is evident.
