Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "E. FOWLER / BEAVER, PA", circa 1870, cylindrical jar with semi-squared rim, applied lug handles, and tooling to midsection and shoulder. Surface covered in slip and cobalt-decorated with a leafy stem bearing two fuchsias above a diagonal leaf design. Shoulder with freehand "4". Reverse impressed with Enoch Fowler maker's mark above an impressed four-gallon capacity mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a minor, 1 3/4" in-the-firing line on underside, which is glazed-over on the interior.
