One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to E.B. Hyssong, Cassville, PA, mid 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled rim molding, decorated across the front with a horizontal vine bearing tulips and graduated leaves. Swag decoration to collar and flanking the dash-decorated spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year Maryland collection. Handle restored. Large area of restoration to spout. A 1 3/4" salt glob to rim area on reverse. An approximately 1" surface line on underside, continuing approximately 1 3/4" up base, not visible on interior. A 3/4" piece of adhered clay to far left side of pitcher's front.
