Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Drape-and-Tassel Motif, Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel motif. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Cracks and hairlines to body, primarily on one side. Heavy chipping to base. A 2" chip to side of rim along with two other lesser rim chips.
