Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK", Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and open loop handle, decorated with brushed cobalt daubs around the maker's mark. Reverse with brushed drape-and-dot motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Harmer Rooke Galleries, New York, NY. Missing one handle. A 1" area of shallow chipping to rim on reverse. A smaller in-the-firing chip to interior of rim. Other minor rim wear. Two faint lines to shoulder area, probably in-the-firing. A 3/4" in-the-firing contact mark to side of jar.
