Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Pear Motif, Stenciled "PALATINE POTTERY CO / PALATINE / W. VA", circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded wax sealer rim, the front decorated with a stenciled pear surrounded by Palatine Pottery Company maker's stenciling. Two large in-the-firing base flakes measuring 2" and 1 7/8". Faint surface line across underside, not visible on interior. H 8 1/2".
