Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "A. CONRAD. / SHINNSTON. / W. VA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a freehand stripe above a bold-faced stenciled "3" and the stenciled signature of Alexander Conrad, surrounded by various stenciled flourishes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent condition with a chip to each handle.
