Scarce Small-Sized Stoneware Pitcher with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid-bodied pitcher with tall, flaring collar and tooled rim, decorated on the body with a freehand inverted swag motif between two stripes, the collar and spout decorated with freehand dashes below a stripe at the rim. Brushed cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. Excellent condition with some in-the-firing roughness to spout and a minor nick to rim on reverse. H 7 3/4".
