Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "E. & L. P. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT", circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Areas of light exfoliation to surface. Shallow chips to one handle. A small flake to opposite handle. A rim chip on reverse. Two small chips on interior of rim.
