One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock with Lid, Stamped "P. HERRMANN", Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with squared rim and applied tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with three groups of cobalt swags. Fitting lid, believed to be original to the crock, is decorated with clover designs around border. Crock with a top-to-bottom hairline from rim and a few small chips to interior of rim. A 1 3/8" chip to underside at edge and other minor chips to underside of lid.
