Two Molded Stoneware Canteens, American, late 19th century, one with two-sided embossed advertising, one side reading, "OLD DEXTER DISTILLERY CO / DISTILLERS / BUTLER KENTUCKY", with relief floral motif at center, the other side reading, "PAT AUG 11. 1891 / THE OLD DEXTER / JUG / WHIS KY"; second canteen molded in the form of a horseshoe with light-blue, Bristol-type glaze, bearing the red mark at base "Stiles Patent / Recherche Ware / Cleveland / O / Pat. May 10, 1892". Provenance: The Stradlings. Dexter canteen in excellent condition with some staining. Other canteen in excellent condition with small chips to foot. H (of Dexter canteen) 7".
