Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW YORK", early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated with a brushed drape motif on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term private collection. Wear to one handle. Area of exfoliation to base/midsection on side and reverse of jar. Numerous rim chips. Small base chip. A long horizontal hairline at base with a short vertical hairline extending off from it. Areas of staining to surface.
