Three Stoneware Bottles with Cobalt Letters, Stamped "D.W. DEFREEST", Northeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, one with the letter "R" and two with the letter "L", all impressed on reverse with the cobalt-highlighted name, "DW DEFREEST". Provenance: Property of a New York State collector. "R" bottle with slumped spout, a small chip with U-shaped line to spout, some wear to surface, and a large in-the-firing iron deposit at base. One "L" bottle with rough, in-the-firing areas of flashing to surface and a minor in-the-firing base chip. Other "L" bottle with fry to cobalt, a 1" chip to underside at edge, some traces of old paint to surface, and the letter "D" in "DEFREEST" missing from stamp. H (of tallest) 10 1/4".
