Very Rare and Fine Stoneware Bottle with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.F. WHITNEY," Albany, NY origin, circa 1825-1835, cylindrical bottle with unusual ovoid neck and squared mouth, brush-decorated with a curving tulip motif. Impressed above with the cobalt-highlighted name, "J. F. WHITNEY." Likely made at the pottery of Moses Tyler and/or Charles Dillon, this form is exceptionally rare with freehand floral decoration. Excellent condition with a small base chip, a few minor base nicks, and a 3/4" line on underside, extending 1/2" onto base (likely in-the-firing). H 7".
