Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, attributed to N.A. White & Son, Utica, NY, circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a bird with paddle-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Water glass staining to interior. Light water glass staining to exterior. Chips to interior of rim. An in-the-firing separation in the clay at base.
