Rare Hound-Handled Redware Pitcher, Incised on Underside "Med (sic.) of John Scheppeley," probably Adams County, PA, 19th century, large molded pitcher with hound handle and raised columns and panels depicting trees. Spout with raised floral design. Clear lead over glaze with underlying green and orange colored clay. Provenance: Ex-Collection H.E. Comstock; Originally found in the Gettysburg, PA area and probably of local manufacture. Areas of restoration to hound handle. Restorations to rim and spout. Some restorations to raised designs. Light wear around base. H 10 3/4".
