Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1800, ovoid jug with footed base and tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a flower featuring round pointed petals. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a fifty-year private collection. Large curving crack extending from shoulder to midsection on side / front of jug. A few base chips. White spotting to the clay. H 10".
