Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1800, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with a incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a daisy. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a fifty-year private collection. Large spout chips. Heavy chipping to base. Short hairlines to base area. An in-the-firing contact mark to left of decoration.
