One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Foliate Decoration, Stamped "J. REMMEY / MANHATTAN-WELLS. / NEW YORK", early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, featuring the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark of John Remmey III on the front and an incised and cobalt-highlighted foliate motif on the reverse. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. Excellent condition with minor base chips and typical, minor in-the-firing flaws. H 9 1/4".
