One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1825, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-squared spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a tulip with details to blossom. Incised and cobalt-highlighted "1" above. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Property of a New York State collector. Some minor nicks to base area. In-the-firing contact marks to surface, which include two pieces of adhered clay and two surface chips. A piece of adhered clay on top of handle. Some fry to cobalt. Short in-the-firing separations on underside.
