Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Canning Jar with Pomroy, Ohio Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with rounded wax sealer rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "J.A. FRANZ / GROCERIES / & / LIQUORS. / HEAD OF STEAMBOAT / LANDING. / POMROY OHIO.". A sealed 6 1/4" crack from rim on left side of jar's front. A few small chips interior of rim. Chips to inner wax sealer rim. A small in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder on right side of jar. A chip and two tiny nicks to base. Black marker notation on underside. H 8 1/2".
