Small-Sized Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Wreath Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, possibly Abial Price, Matawan, NJ, circa 1840, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a brushed wreath in strong cobalt slip. Heavy cobalt highlights to handle terminals. An in-the-firing chip / contact mark to handle and a minor in-the-firing chip / contact to spout. Some light traces of old green paint to surface. Some minor roughness to base. A minor glazed-over iron ping to side of jug. H 7 3/4".
