Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POKEEPSIE NY", circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with long tail, perched on stump flanked by shrubs and grasses. A 5 1/2" crack from rim on far left side of crock's front. Several small rim chips. Two discolored in-the-firing contact marks at base of decoration.
