Glazed Redware Figure of a Goose, Pennsylvania origin, circa 1850-1880, hand-modeled figure of a goose with slightly-turned head, impressed eyes, and incised details to beak, wing, and tail, seated atop an oval base with impressed circle border. Pieces of clay in the bird's body cavity allow the figure to rattle when shaken. Original vent hole in tail. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased years ago at an estate auction in Quakertown, PA. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. L 4" ; H 2 7/8".
