Fine Small-Sized Stoneware Fruit Jar, Stamped "PEACHES" and "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK", early 19th century, thin-walled, cylindrical jar with footed base and delicately-formed rim, impressed on one side with the word "PEACHES", and on the reverse with the maker's mark, "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK". Surface covered in a light salt glaze, possibly over a faint brown slip wash. Albany-slip-glazed interior. Excellent size and desirable form. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. Excellent condition with a 1" hairline from rim and a small iron ping to shoulder. H 6 3/4".
