Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Southern U.S. origin, possibly Tinsley W. Craven, Henderson County, TN, circa 1840, narrow-bodied, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, the surface dipped in a brownish slip and covered in a salt glaze. Heavy ash deposits to shoulder. Appealing form. A thin, approximately 6" crack from rim. Some surface wear to midsection. A small piece of adhered clay to shoulder area. H 16 1/2".
