Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Drape Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, attributed to the Crolius Family, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and flared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed spotted drape design. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a fifty-year private collection. Three chips and some minor wear to exterior of rim. Small chips and wear to interior of rim. A faint line across underside, not visible on the interior and likely in-the-firing. A 3/4" glazed-over base chip. Additional small base chips. A large Albany slip streak to one side. H 9".
