Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted daisy motif with scalloped leaves. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Two restored 3" sections to exterior of rim. Restoration to exfoliation on one side, which is peeling off. Restoration to a large Y-shaped crack on opposite side. Some shallow chipping to rim. Tight cracks to base area, two of which extend a short distance onto underside. Minor chipping to base.
