Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "H. HUMISTON / SOUTH-AMBOY", New Jersey origin, circa 1830, squat-shaped, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized cobalt design below the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark and capacity mark. A 4 3/4" crack from rim on reverse, more difficult to see on exterior. A small rim chip.
