Five-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y.", circa 1885, large-sized, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with very large brushed and slip-trailed design of a flowering plant featuring three leaves surrounding a central blossom. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Heavy chipping to spout. Some fry and wear to cobalt. Some minor surface flakes, not touching decoration. Two base chips and some minor base nicks.
