Rare Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Alkaline Glaze, Stamped "JBL", Jesse Bradford Long, Crawford County, GA, circa 1860, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout and applied handles at the shoulder, the surface covered in a glossy dark-brown alkaline glaze with lighter-brown spotting throughout. Impressed with the maker's mark, "JBL", on top of one handle. Exceptional form. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing glaze drip covering the "BL" in the maker's mark, "JBL". H 16 3/8".
