Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Star Decoration, Stenciled "L.B. DILLINER / NEW GENEVA, PA", circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and tapered rim, decorated with a row of five stenciled stars above L.B. Dilliner maker's stenciling. Shoulder and base decorated with a brushed freehand stripe. Stenciled "2" with flourishes at base. A 3 1/4" Y-shaped hairline, extending 3 3/4" onto base on side of jar, where it forms a Y. A 2 3/4" chip to exterior of rim. A small chip to interior of rim. A faint Y-shaped surface line on side of jar. Some staining.
