Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "O.L. & A.K. BALLARD / BURLINGTON, VT", circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a bold slip-trailed floral design featuring three large blossoms. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Two salt drips to side of jug. A 2" horizontal, in-the-firing below spout. A minor 1" in-the-firing line to upper handle terminal. Two 1 1/2" vertical lines at base. Minor wear to base of handle. A thin band of wear near base on reverse. A few minor spout nicks.
