Fine Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Impressed Drape Decoration, Stamped "S. AMBOY. / N. JERSY", attributed to Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, early 19th century, cylindrical jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and squared rim, the front decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape design below the impressed signature, "S. AMBOY. N. JERSY". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A faint vertical line extending from base to shoulder on reverse. A chip to exterior of rim and minor in-the-firing nick to interior of rim. A few small surface flakes to front. A few base chips. H 7 1/2".
