Glazed Miniature Redware Jar with Lid, American, possibly Norwalk, CT or Huntington, Long Island, New York origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with footed base, flared collar, and small applied handles, the surface featuring two rows of wavy combed incising. Interior and exterior decorated with streaked daubs of manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. Includes original glazed redware lid with daubed manganese decoration. Heavy wear to top of jar's rim. Expected light wear to edge of lid and a chip to knob of lid. H (excluding lid) 3 1/8".
