Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Dish with Bird Motif, possibly North Carolina origin, early 19th century, decoration, cream, green, and brown slip, featuring a central image of a bird with raised wing, surrounded by daisies, "fish scale" motifs, and straight and wavy lines. Excellent decoration. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from an eighty-year private collection. Losses to slip on interior, primarily to bird. Wear and shallow chips to rim. Diameter 9 1/2" ; H 2".
