Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA", New York State origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird "running" atop a stylized branch. Fry to cobalt. A base chip on reverse. A small in-the-firing contact mark near base on front. A hairline through handle. Some shallow chipping to top edge of spout, most of which appears to be in-the-firing.
