Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER", New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with flared rim and lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with cross-hatched flower petals and shaded leaves. Slip-trailed "2." at shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 1 1 1/8" x 1 1/8" rim chip on reverse. Otherwise excellent condition with two small chips and a minor stone ping on inner rim for lid.
