Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Unusual Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "BROWN . BROTHERS / HUNTINGTON.L.I", New York State origin, circa 1863-1870, ovoid churn with squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a looping stem bearing a series of swags. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 9" crack on side of churn, continuing 3 3/4" onto underside, where it forms a Y. A chip to interior of rim. Chipping to inner rim, where a lid would rest. A minor stone ping to base.
