Fine and Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a brushed fuchsia design extending across the shoulder, underscored by abstract foliate motifs. Brushed cobalt stripes below rim and at base. An unusual and appealing design, exhibiting excellent color. Some minor chipping to shoulder molding on front. H 10".
