Scarce Stoneware Canning Jar with Elaborate Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "From / James Hamilton & Co. / Greensboro, Pa.", circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded wax sealer rim, decorated with elaborate freehand stripes and vining surrounding James Hamilton maker's stenciling. Some shallow chipping to top edge of rim, most of which appears to be in-the-firing. Traces of old green paint to top of rim. A minor chip and two tiny nicks to inner wax sealer rim. Two short, faint lines from rim on front. H 8 1/4".
