Fine and Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Stenciled and Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, finely-potted pitcher with ovoid body and tall collar with tooled rim, decorated on the front with a stylized stenciled foliate design between freehand stripes. Collar decorated with a large freehand tulip on each side and dashes accenting the spout. Excellent form, decoration, and color. Tight cracks in underside, one of which extends approximately 4 1/2" up right side of pitcher. Smooth, heavily-worn area to spout. Some light wear to rim. H 10 1/4".
