Rare Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Urn Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and squared wax sealer rim, decorated with a brushed design of a stylized urn bearing Western-Pennsylvania-style vining. This canning jar is the first decorated in this manner that we have seen. Staining to reverse. Base chips. Minor chips to interior of rim. A glazed-over stone ping to reverse. H 10".
