Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Drape Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS, / MANUFACTURER, / NEW-YORK", circa 1820, highly-ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, tall collar, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed drape motif. Brushed cobalt highlights run the length of each handle. A large spider crack on underside, continuing halfway up body of jar and curving onto the right side of the jar's front. A portion of this crack extends 4" up base from underside. A 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" salt drip to shoulder on reverse. Other lesser in-the-firing flaws to surface. Several small rim chips. A 2 1/4" hairline from rim on front.($150-$300)
